Bathroom Makeover pt 7: the Perfect Finishing Touch Above My Shower with Peel-and-Stick Tile
There comes a point in every room makeover where all the big projects are done, but something still feels…unfinished.
That’s exactly where I found myself with our bathroom renovation.
The vanity was painted, the wallpaper was up, the antique-inspired mirrors and lighting were installed, and all of the little decorative details had finally come together. But every time I walked into the room, my eyes went straight to the empty wall above the shower surround. It wasn’t bad—it just felt lonely next to all the happiness around it.
Why I Chose Peel-and-Stick Tile
When I started looking for ideas, I knew I wanted something that would add texture and visual interest without taking on another major renovation.
That’s when I found these peel-and-stick tiles (gifted by Stickgoo), and they ended up being exactly what the space needed.
I love that they create the look of a custom tile installation while being much more approachable for a DIY project.
The Installation
One of my favorite things about this project was how quick it was.
After measuring the area, I trimmed the tiles to fit where needed, peeled off the backing, and carefully pressed each sheet into place. Working slowly and checking alignment as I went made the installation straightforward, and before I knew it, the entire area was finished. I completed it with silicone around the edges for extra protection.
From start to finish, the project only took a couple of hours.
It’s one of those DIYs that looks far more complicated than it actually is.
The Difference It Made
It’s amazing how one small project can completely change the feel of a room.
The added texture draws your eye upward, gives the shower area more architectural interest, and helps balance the rest of the design. Instead of feeling like an overlooked wall, it now feels like an intentional part of the bathroom.
Sometimes it’s not the biggest renovation that has the greatest impact, it’s the finishing touches that make a space feel complete.
Final Thoughts
I couldn’t be happier with how this bathroom turned out. Every detail, from the wallpaper to the lighting to these peel-and-stick tiles, came together to create the moody, collected look I had envisioned from the very beginning.
Of course…I keep saying the bathroom is finished.
But if you’ve followed my DIY projects for any length of time, you know there’s always a chance I’ll wake up one morning and decide the ceiling needs paint too.
